  1. Ms. W & Ms. T, beautiful artwork! Wondering if you would be interested in writing up this lesson plan for us to feature on our new art fundraising blog Back to Square 1? Please email me the document at lisa at square1art com. I would be happy to make it worth your while by providing you with a free Square 1 Art product of your choice with the artwork of your choice. Hope to hear from you soon! Lisa, Marketing Director

    1. Hi Jackie! I don't really have a lesson plan for this but what we do is: In K-3rd grade, we do a step by step drawing lesson with each grade having a theme. We try to pick sellable themes like :Hearts, hands, self-portraits, suns & moons, owls, etc. THen, with 4th and 5th graders, we put up a large variety of ideas on the board (about 20!), have them sketch their idea (it could be inspired by what's on the board or not). They check their sketch with me before they get their square 1 paper. I have a list on the board of what I will be checking for. I have also demonstrated the successful and unsuccessful ways to do the same idea. For example, one of the expectations I have is that the image needs to be up close/zoomed in/large. If my idea is soccer, show them the difference between drawing teeny tiny people playing soccer vs. a soccer ball that is going off half of the page with a big soccer cleat kicking it or something. This way, they can actually see how much more exciting the larger images are. I encourage them to use overlapping, pattern, think about color schemes etc. Good luck and have fun!!!
